Google has a plan. Bringing internet to everyone on Earth… using balloons. It sounds insane and even a bit of fantasy/science fiction, but Google is working hard to bring the internet to everyone.
Google Loon involves having several large balloons float in near-space and beam internet down to rural and remote areas back on Earth. With internet access, on average, being accessable to only 1 out of 3 people, it’s not hard to see why Google wants to do this.
Started a little over 3 years ago, Project Loon is still very much in its infancy. Despite this, Google has already launched balloons that have floated around the world.
Although Loon is still highly experimental, it is clear that it won’t be long until internet access is available to everyone.
